Maison Pommery & Associés, formerly Vranken Pommery, has announced it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Henkell International, a subsidiary of Henkell Freixenet, for a strategic combination. If the deal goes through, Henkell would become the majority shareholder of the Champagne house, creating what both parties describe as "a global player in sparkling wine" with complementary brand portfolios and a strengthened international commercial presence. The announcement comes amid significant financial pressure on Pommery, with net debt standing at €754 million at end-2025. Both parties have given themselves two months to finalize or abandon negotiations, with no guarantee of success at this stage.
