A rare event took place in a Michelin-listed restaurant in Burgundy: the opening of a bottle of Romanée-Conti 1899, in the presence of Aubert de Villaine, the Domaine's historic co-owner. This bottle was opened by Malaysian collector Soo Hoo Khoon Peng. This 127-year-old bottle, from ungrafted pre-phylloxera vines, retained a promising bright red color according to the experts present. The event was described as a landmark moment for the wine world, as these pre-war bottles are considered the absolute summit of the winemaking craft.
