It was the Latvian, (former Baltic Soviet republic which does not produce wines) Raimonds Tomsons who won the title against Nina Jensen (vice-champion) and Reeze Choi (China third in the competition). Candidate Pascaline Lepeltier came fourth. To win the World’s Best Sommelier competition in Paris, it was a dream. The pressure was enormous during the final, we had to taste the wines blind, identify non-alcoholic drinks from around the world and imagine a vegan menu. Andreas Larsson, Best Sommelier in the World 2007 and Member of the Jury for this 2023 edition, declares that he is happy not to have had to participate in this very difficult competition.
