Clear and bright appearance with an opaque purple core and a thin lightly garnet rim indicating some evolution, elevated viscosity with slow thick tears.
Expressive nose with generosity of sweet black plum, cherry and spicy blueberry chutney complemented by very fine oak notes of charred wood, oriental spice box and Madagascar vanilla bean, gentle scents of dried violets on the background. Aeration reveals fine evolution notes with smoke, woodland and game, with few more minutes in the glass the aromatics change towards roasted coffee, licorice and dark chocolate, highly complex nose still evolving and gaining depth.
Generous and ripe attack with impeccable depth of flavor complemented by very dense yet perfectly ripe and velvety textured tannin, a very refreshing acidity adds lift and balance. The midpalate has high concentration and density of flavor with juicy sweet morello cherries, ripe dark plum and blackberry combined with well-integrated fine oak flavors of lightly charred wood, sweet spice and vanilla, gentle hint of graphite adds a sense of mineral presence. Discrete evolution flavors of roasted coffee, licorice, savory hint of game and tobacco leaf, despite its generosity there is a well retained freshness going through the palate, the finish is very long, persistent with scents of sweet spice.
This is a very fine and beautiful expression of high-altitude Malbec coming from sandy soils with some calcareous layers of the Uco Valley. The wine combines depth and concentration of flavor, velvety textures, purity of fruit and very persistent and well-retained freshness providing great balance. In combination with the experience, craft and meticulous vinification we have a very high-quality expression of Malbec which delivers delightful pleasure now or through the next 10+ years.
