Bright and deep ruby core with a lighter ruby garnet rim, generous viscosity with oily tears.
Perfumed and alluring nose with a plethora of small dark berries like blueberry, blackberry and cassis chutney, hints of crushed black pepper and star anise, fine roasted oak note in the background. Aeration reveals a savory character of tobacco leaf and turned earth, still developing and gaining in complexity.
The attack has a dark sweet and spicy fruit character combined with very polished velvety textured tannin and refreshing acidity within a moderate structural frame. The mid-palate shows density and concentration without heaviness, with sweet black currant, dark plum and ripe Morello cherry supported with fine dark spices, gently roasted oak notes and savory scents of aromatic herbs like bay leaf and thyme. The finish is lingering with a scent of dark chocolate.
A very good expression of Sicilian Syrah with the typical dark fruit and spice character in combination with great balance, freshness and drinkability. Perfect with a slowly roasted Pyrenees lamb with savory Mediterranean herbs and a lamb jus.
