Canada: Wine Industry Worth $10.1 Billion and Calling for a National Strategy

A Deloitte report commissioned by Wine Growers Canada reveals that the Canadian wine industry generates $10.1 billion in GDP and supports nearly 100,000 jobs across six producing provinces. The report identifies an additional growth potential of $3.6 billion if Canadian wines reached a 51% domestic market share. The main obstacles remain interprovincial trade barriers and the absence of a coordinated national strategy comparable to those of leading wine-producing countries. The sector is described as a genuine rural economic engine with largely untapped potential.
