Stay updated on the wine world
14 October 2025
According to data published by IWSR, the number of wine consumers in major global markets has been declining since 2021, with a drop of 5 million drinkers between 2021 and 2024.
In the United States, despite a population increase of 9.5 million adults since 2022, the number of monthly wine consumers has risen by only 500,000.
In mature markets such as the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, and Belgium, those aged 55 and older account for nearly 50% of wine consumers.
The industry’s main challenge remains attracting younger generations, who are increasingly turning to other beverages.
